ABOUT
Madeline began as a children’s book series by Ludwig Bemelmans and was later adapted into a television series and feature film. The main character, Madeline, is the smallest girl in her class at a boarding school in Paris. Despite her petite size, Madeline and her friends manage to get into some pretty big trouble throughout their time at school. In 1980, DiC Entertainment created the first Madeline animated television special for HBO which was later nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Animate Program. Cinar went on to produce animated adaptations of the other five Madeline books in 1991, which aired on The Family Channel. The Madeline cartoon series was produced by DiC in 1993 and began airing on The Family Channel and then ABC under a new title, “The New Adventures of Madeline.” In 2001, new episodes were produced for The Disney Channel and the show won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Animated Program. DiC Entertainment also produced two animated Madeline films including “Madeline: Lost In Paris” in 1991 and “My Fair Madeline” in 2002. “Madeline: Lost in Paris” was released by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment on direct-to-video VHS in August, 1999.
