Singer/songwriter Miles Kurosky, along with guitarist Bill Swan, formed the indie rock band Beulah in San Francisco in 1996. Swan and Kurosky discovered their similar taste in music while working in an office mail room together. Beulah released a total of four critically-acclaimed albums: Handsome Western States, When Your Heartstrings Break, The Coast Is Never Clear and Yoko.
Before the release of their final album, Yoko, the band announced that if it did not achieve gold status, they would disband. Even though the album received the best reviews of the band’s career, it did not achieve gold status. After much speculation, Beulah split up, ending with a free concert in New York City’s Battery Park on August 5, 2004.
Kurosky has since moved on to a solo career with his debut album, The Desert of Shallow Effects, slated to be released on March 9, 2010.
