While waiting to be shipped off to Vietnam, four young U.S. Army recruits are forced to confront their own fears and prejudices when it's revealed that one of them is gay. This powerful 1983 drama was directed by Academy Award-winner Robert Altman (A Prairie Home Companion, Gosford Park, Short Cuts, The Player, Nashville). David Rabe wrote the screenplay, based on his award-winning Broadway play (which was also nominated for a Tony Award). The film stars Matthew Modine (Transporter 2, And the Band Played On, Weeds) in his first major role and David Alan Grier (Dance Flick, Life With Bonnie).
