Wallace Shawn, also known as Wally Shawn, is an American character actor, writer and playwright. He is known for a dark style, usually politically charged and controversial.

In 1979, Shawn made his film debut in Woody Allen's Manhattan, playing Diane Keaton's ex-husband. Other best-known film roles include: Vizzini in The Princess Bride (1987) and debate teacher Mr. Hall in Clueless (1995). Shawn’s acting style is noted as fun, and his mischievously homely faces have successfully entertained fans for many years.
