Singer-songwriter Rhett Miller is best known as the leading man of the Texas rock group, the Old 97’s, in addition to his career as a talented solo artist. He has recorded seven albums with the Old 97’s and three under his own name. His newest, self-titled album is slated to be released in June 2009.
Formed in 1993, the Old 97’s style derived from a fusion of their Texan country roots and power-pop influences. In 2002, Miller took a break from the group and began recording his first solo album, Mythologies. In 2003, his second album, Instigator, was released, followed by a tour with Neil Finn. The Believer, released in 2006, was Rhett’s third album.
Miller is also known for his personal renditions of other performers’ songs, including Simon and Garfunkel’s “Homeward Bound” and the Beatles’, “Girl.”
