As sophisticated as it was crude, The Dana Carvey Show aired as a half-hour sketch comedy on ABC in 1996. The show ran for seven episodes before being cancelled for its outrageous content.
Dana Carvey hosted the show and welcomed such memorable cast members as Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Bill Chott, Chris McKinney, Heather Morgan, Peggy Shay, Robert Smigel and James Stephens. Carvey recreated some of his characters from Saturday Night Live to parody the news, media, politics and commercialism. The rest of the cast participated in various sketches utilizing animations, costumes and fanatical scenarios.
Although the show was short-lived, it received critical acclaim and was host to an assortment of characters and memorable sketches.
