ABOUT
George "Buddy" Guy is an American blues and rock guitarist and singer who holds the credibility of five Grammy awards. In addition, Guy has received a Billboard Magazine Century Award, the Presidential National Medal of Arts and a record of 23 W.C. Handy Blues Awards.
His latest album, Skin Deep, was released in 2008 and addresses the issues of racism and personal grief with regard to growing up in the South during an era of racial segregation. Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Eric Clapton, and Robert Randolph, some of his biggest self-proclaimed fans, are featured as collaborators on the album. Guy’s songs have been covered by some of the greatest rock bands of all time, from Led Zeppelin to The Rolling Stones.
Some of his other well known albums include Blues Singer, A Man & The Blues and I Was Walking Through The Woods. His songs are known for being written with great personal meaning and depth. Eric Clapton, among many other great artists of today, refers to him as his favorite blues axe-man.
