R&B legend B.B. King has been performing for thousands of audiences for over 52 years. His long musical career, beginning in 1949, is rooted in American blues, and his lyrics have spoken to several generations and music lovers of all genres.
Born in Mississippi, B.B. King started as a singer and a DJ for a local R&B radio station. In 1949, he began recording music with RPM Records and released many hit singles during the 50s including, "You Know I Love You," "Woke Up This Morning," and "Please Love Me." To date, he has released over 45 albums and countless hit singles.
B.B. King was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. He has received such prestigious honors as the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George W. Bush and honorary doctorates in music by Yale and Brown Universities. He has also won 15 Grammy Awards including the 1987 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
