Fountains Of Wayne, named after a lawn ornament store in Wayne, NJ, burst into the American Pop music scene in 2003. That year, they topped the charts with the single “Stacy’s Mom” and received two Grammy nominations for their third album, Welcome Interstate Managers.
The band was officially formed by former schoolmates Adam Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood while attending Williams College. Post-graduation, the two went their separate ways, but reunited in 1996 and formed FOW with guitarist Jody Porter and drummer Brian Young. They received critical acclaim and moderate success from their self-titled debut album as well as their second release, Utopia Parkway.
FOW has produced a total of five albums to date. Each one tackles different issues from growing up in suburbia to young-adult life issues, done in a mix of early 60's pop, 70's classic rock, 80's new wave, 90's alternative rock, and contemporary pop in their own unmatched style.
